Local Eats

Some essential foods from my home town (Guyana) are egg ball, potato ball (my fav), fishcake (also my fav) and many more other pastries. From the way the pastries are hand made to the way it is fried or baked, and how good it tastes is so amazing. I've grown up eating these pastries and I have always loved and enjoyed eating them. I don't eat them everyday but when I do get to eat it it's just so tasty and savory. There are many other pastries that are made in Guyana or just by people who are from Guyana. These pastries can be found in many stores on liberty avenue in Queens borough. It honestly sometimes amazes me that people from other countries and states try our food and end up loving it. Maybe you've never tried a potato ball or an egg ball or your just reading this and thinking "ew that sound's weird and like it might not taste good" well from all of the different people I've seen try our pastries and not even just our pastries but our food and all that, they ended up really liking it, Although I do have to warn you if your not a fan of pepper and you can't eat a lot of it then I would suggest asking them to not put pepper into your food cause the pepper that we eat are really spicy and you might end up burning ur tongue.

Our foods are: Chicken curry, duck curry, stew beef, pumpkin, eggplant curry, potato curry or if your Trini then let me fix that for you Trini people, (curry chicken. curry duck) not sure if y'all say the rest the same way or not but I know that Trini and Guyanese are almost the exact same but the way that we say certain things are very different. If you are ever in New York and you want to go to a place for some extra flavor their are many amazing places to go. You can go to places like Big Well, Three Sisters, etc. Theres so many great places you could go. I personally like Three Sisters and Big Well which is why I put those two places but there are many other great places to go as well.

In my opinion everyone from different countries and states have amazing food to try and love. But I know we can all agree that there's no food that tastes quite like home, and I totally get that but sometimes its nice to try new things just to explore different flavors you know? I've lived in NYC for about 6 almost 7 years and I've been trying out many different types of food. Like Chinese, Fast Food, Hindu Foods, and foods from many different other countries. They all taste amazing and have their own flavors but then when I eat my home food its just amazing. I know we all get tired of eating our own food as well but that's why there's so many different food places and I don't mean fast food I mean food from other places. When you try other people's food you'll grow to like it or even love it. Fried Stuffed Potato Balls  this is a potato ball.
